It is in the How of being
The flow of being
Is not in time
Time is in it
Being is not found
Somewhere
Somewhere is found
In it
You cannot
Choose to be
Being chooses you
Being it seems
imparts to you
The appearance
Of the ability
To choose
The origins of being
Seem unfathomable
And the origins
Of you
Are hidden
In being
So they too lie
Deep in the heart
Of mystery
Our life has
No origin
That is known
To us
It arrives
Already lived
We awaken
Already living
With roads
Already traversed
And journeys
Already beckoning
Beacons are burning
And scattered
Along our path
The map
Of our lives
Lies open
To us
We can travel
It’s beckoning roads
Or we can ask
Why
Why this journey
And not another
In this manner
We acknowledge
The gift of choice
Thereby we become
Ourselves
We liberate ourselves
From the life
Already chosen
By embracing that
Which frees us from
Our ignorance
Being aware of
Our ignorance
enlivens our
Doubt
Verifies our
Questioning
Brings us
Humility
And impels us
On journeys
Of discovery
That shake
Anonymity
Out of the
Ordinary
So the
Ordinary
Becomes
The surprising
Doubt separates
Certainty
From
Knowledge
Surrounds
The known
With new
Horizons
Which allow
Old knowledge
That lies
Barren
In its
Usual place
To become
Pregnant
With the
Possibility
Of being
Useful
In
New places
And producing
Offspring
That may
Journey
To Lands of
Knowledge
Made new
Thus the
Mind
Both the one
Bereft of
Knowledge
And the one
Full of knowledge
Can enliven
The being
Of being alive
Beyond
The stultifying
Power
Of belief
Which
Suppresses
The liberating force
Of
Doubt
Lies
Power of
Habit
For habit
Both grants
The freedom
Of easier
Action
And
Bondage
Of living
Life
Automatically
Habit
Envelops
Living
Filling
The time
Of the day
With action
Meeting
The exigencies
Of life
With an
Acceptance
Of knowing
That deeds
Can be done
With
Minimum
Effort
And little
Planning
Life gets by
A multitude of tasks
Get done
Efficiently
With the least
Energy
Expended
But sufficient
To leave
The doer
Tired out
Come the end
Of the day
Thus we
Know
We have lived
A day and
Done
What had
To be done
We have been
Alive
Things
Needing doing
Have been
Done
Life has
Unfolded
We have
Made
Our history
We have
Stories to tell
Of events
Gone by
We have
Lived
And yet
The poet
Cries
Where is
The life
We have lost
In living
And we
Know
What he
Means
But only
When
We think about
It
For it is not
Natural
To think about
What lies
Beyond knowing
How to do
What needs
To be done
Beyond satisfying
Desire
Hunger and thirst
Companionship
Family
Sex
Safety
Wealth
Avoidance of
Violence
Illness
And the prolongation
Of life
Such thoughts
Can occupy
A lifetime
For many
There is little
Space
To contemplate
Other things
Little need
To do so
For there are
Always
More problems
To solve in
Just living
Where is
The life
We have
Lost
In living
It lies in
Living
Beyond our
Habits
Beyond a
Life
Full of
Departures and
Arrivals
Want and
Fulfilment
It lies in
Recognizing
That we live
Much longer
In traveling
Then arriving
Most of our
Life
Comprises
More of
Doing than
Being done
Of learning
Then being learned
For knowing
Always reveals
More of that
Which is
Unknown
Life comprises
More of
Cleaning our
Home then
Having it clean
And even
When we find
An ending
That endures
We always
Uncover
Other journeys
To undertake
So life comprises
More of
Traveling
Than of being in
One place
Fulfilled by
One thing or
Fulfilled by
Many things
We are
Restless beings
Where is the life
We have lost
In living
It is here
In realizing
We are
Travelers
Living forever
In a dynamic
Present
Not in our
Past
Not in our
Future
Just here
In this
Present moment
Humming
With the
Energy
Of this time
And revealed
By realizing
We are in the
Here and now
And nowhere
Else
And the
Here and now
Is always
Evanescent
We are never
Like a point
We are always
Like a line
We are not
A pond
We are
A river
Being
Is not constrained
By life
Life is
Always
Lived in
Being
Learning
To flourish
In traveling
In life
Is claiming
A life
That is
Beyond
Just living
In learning
To live in being
Takes you there
Where is
The life
Worth
Living
It is
In the How
Of Being
